MARCH EVENTS

 

The Dues Deadline has passed, if you have not paid, your membership was terminated, and you will have to reapply if you wish to regain membership.

 

The Club is on the Winter Schedule – hours are Weekdays – 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 minimum, and Weekends – 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. minimum. Please note the schedule for food this winter is:  Dinner – Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 5:30 – 8:30, Sunday Brunch from 11 – 2:30.  The Wednesday Take out dinners have been going great!  Remember to please sign up by Tuesday noon, as we have been selling out!  Thank you Bob!!!  The new winter menu is in the works….stay tuned!

 

It’s that time again! Renew your saltwater fishing licenses by following this link:  www.ma.wildlifelicense.com. All are required to purchase, over 65 are free. 

 

Let’s start off the fishing season with a bang- the Club is once again hosting a Weighmasters Meeting for all wishing to volunteer to be weighmasters for this upcoming season.  Wednesday, March 15th and another on Sunday March 26th.  They will begin at 6:00. 

 

The finale for the movie “The Migration of the Striped Bass” will be shown after the weighmasters meeting on the 26th

 

Trivia Night – March 18th– 6:30 start – teams of 6 or less $5.00 per person – winner take all!

 

 

 

 

 

APRIL EVENTS

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner was a success, well attended. Thanks to Neville for a great dinner! Great job! Cribbage Night had another great turnout, and so did Trivia! Thanks to John Crowell and Jeremy Slavitz for hosting those events. The 1st pond tournament of the season has not happened yet. I will report on it next month.

 

APRIL EVENTS

TIME TO RENEW YOUR SALTWATER FISHING LICENSE!!! Get a jump on the season and buy your license now at: www. ma.wildlifelicense.com. Only $10.00. Anyone under 16 is exempt, but over 60 needs one but it’s free.

Book Swap – Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Club. 6:00 p.m. Bring any books previously read or just don’t care for them hanging around any longer. Any types of socially acceptable books welcome- Cook Books, How to Books, …..For dummies, Children’s Books, FISHING Books, Non Fiction or Fiction, Hard or Soft cover, etc…… Bring some, take some, Recycle! Let’s get the summer reading season going with some fresh new books to take home.

Fruit Carving –Advance sign up necessary. Attendees will learn to carve different fruits and vegetables. Sign up deadline is the 1st of April. $60.00 per person

Cribbage Night at the Club – Saturday, April 4th – 6:30 start time. Please sign up in advance so that grid may be prepared. If not playing, do not sign up. $5.00 per person.

Sunday, April 5 – Easter Sunday – The Club will be closed for the day

6 HOUR PICKEREL TOURNAMENT – Sunday, April 12, 2015 – 11:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. $20.00 per angler, Individual tournament – 2 heaviest Pickerel count for points (15 inch minimum)

POOR MAN’S DINNER – Wednesday, April 15th – Come down and drown you tax payment sorrows with a good old fashioned poor man’s dinner of Hot Dogs, Beans, Brown Bread, Cole Slaw and Homemade Macaroni and Cheese. All for only $2.50, that’s right, only $2.50. Come on down and commiserate!

TRIVIA NIGHT April 18, 2015 We will begin at 6:30, and once again it will be $5.00 per person. 2 – 6 person teams. Join in! Don’t miss out – last one for the season!

Adult/ Child Perch Tournament – April 19 – 26 Teams consist of 1 adult & 1 child – 2 age brackets – under 6, and 6 and over. Adult fee – $20.00 children are free. Sign up before going fishing. All week long, fish when you want. The total weight of 1 yellow and 1 white perch per angler will count toward points. Prizes for both divisions.

FEBRUARY RECAP

Snow, Snow, and more Snow!

Superbowl was a great game with the Patriot’s as the victors! Woo Hoo! Sorry there weren’t more people here to watch it! Cribbage Night went over very well with 18 participants. Thanks John Crowell! Chinese New Year was again a great night, thanks to all that helped! Trivia night was again a big hit, thanks Jeremy! And Congrats to the team Solstice.

FISH ON! – LET THE TOURNAMENT SEASON BEGIN! – MARCH 29TH – MIXED DRAW

$15.00 per angler – Blind draw – you won’t know partner until fishing ends. 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. juniors fish for free. All pond species included in scoring (except the dreaded Catfish, sorry). Awards will be presented at 6:30.

Let’s all make a concerted effort this year to participate in the Club’s Tournaments, that is why we’re here after all isn’t it??? The more the merrier! What have you got to lose? Bring on the spring!

No one signed up for Sunday Supper, so we will be hosting a Superbowl party. The game begins at 6:30, but please join us earlier for the buildup, squares available, some trivia, and of course – game food!!! We will have all the usual snacks – chips and dip, 7 layer dip with tortilla chips, Potato Skins, Buffalo Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, etc… Come on Patriots! February 7 – Saturday Night – Cribbage Night – 6:00 start time – come up early, sign up – John Crowell is running a Cribbage Tournament, and would like to make this a recurring event if the interest is there. JANUARY EVENTS

December RECAP

The Christmas Stroll Buffet was the best attended ever with 132 people. The Children’s Christmas Party had 41 attendees – and they all left happy – good day! A special Thank You to Santa – great job again! Trivia Night was won by the Dumba&*^*s in a tie breaker. Fun was had by all! Thanks Jeremy! The Year-long tournament is not over until midnight tonight so I won’t jinx anyone by announcing the winners yet. But, Congratulations!!!

Now, out with the old and in with the new……….

JANUARY EVENTS

1/1/2015 – HAPPY NEW YEAR! New Beginnings, New Ideas, New Board Members, New Lease on Life, New Chances to start fresh, New Year’s Resolutions, New Attitudes, New Rochelle, New York, New Jersey, wait a minute……now we’re getting carried away. But we do have a New Menu for the winter and lots of New ideas for the Club. We would like to bring back the cooking demonstrations for the winter months, also perhaps some tasting nights, mystery bartenders, Cribbage nights, murder mystery dinner, and anything else you would like to see happen at the Club. Let us know your ideas!

Why not start the New Year off right by joining us at the Club for the New Year’s Day Buffet Brunch. We will be serving a plethora of menu items for your enjoyment along with some great beverages to perhaps cure a hangover. We will be serving the buffet from 11 – 3, all you can eat for only $17.99, children are $9.99. Let’s make it a good day to start off a New Year at the Club! Due to the Buffet, we will not be serving dinner that night, but will be back up and running with the new menu on Friday night. We also have a party rental on the 3rd, Saturday night, so we won’t be serving dinner that night either. Sunday Brunch will be offered as usual.

*Stroll Buffet – Dec. 6, 2014 $10.00 per adult, $5.00 per child. The buffet will be offered from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

There will be a plethora of great foods, as always! Why not join us! Special Stroll Cocktails will be available!

** Children’s Christmas Party – Sunday, Dec. 14th – Santa will once again stop by the Club. The party will begin at noon with some PB & J’s and Mac and Cheese for the kids, and we will once again be preparing the gingerbread houses. Anyone attending must be signed up by Dec. 9th to make the deadline! (Very important for Santa’s elves to have a proper count of attendees). Please remember to bring a cardboard base, a . gallon container (milk or juice), a box of graham crackers, and a snack to share with all. The Club will supply the rest. We will have a sing-along with Eric and Shep while awaiting Santa’s arrival. Please note the age cut off of 12 – it’s all about believing, don’t ruin it for the little ones!

Last Gasp Striper Tournament – November 1 – 30. Entry fee – $10.00 per angler. Must sign up before fishing any time during the month. Largest Bass takes all.

November 15th – Trivia Night! Again, will start at 6:30 with a $5.00 entry fee per person. Teams may consist of 1 – 6 members. Why not test your knowledge of trivia! Always fun!

Oct. 11-12-13 – Cranny Cranston Beach Bluefish Tournament 

$100.00 per team – Sign up at the Club. Member/Member, Member/Guest, or Guest/Guest (sponsored by a fishing member). Deadline to sign up – Friday, the 10th of October by 8:00 p.m. 6 fish qualifying minimum. Awards and dinner on the 13th.

October 26, 2014 – Kid’s Halloween Party 

This event is free to all kid’s! Join in on the Fun! – games, crafts, costume contest, treats or tricks!!!

I am looking for volunteers to help with this event. Please let me know if available. 

Can’t find a date for hors d’oeuvres??? Why not volunteer ….Other means of volunteering –paint exterior stairs, finish painting bathrooms, etc…. there is always something that can be done. Let us know!

Club Appreciation Day is again being held on Labor Day, Sept. 1, 2014.
Thursday Sept. 11th
– The Club will be holding a pre-kick off registration for the Inshore Classic. This is for Members
Only!!! They will be here from 6 – 8 p.m. to register those members wishing to beat the rush.

Saturday, Sept 13th
– Inshore Classic Kick off Gam!!! The event will run from 5 – 8 for all those signing up for this
year’s Classic. As usual, there will be a raw bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, a Chinese auction, raffles, etc….$50.00 entry
fee – This tournament runs until Oct. 18th, so why not enter, get out there, and FISH!!!

The Kathy Kelliher Ladies Pond Tournament – Sept. 20 & 21. Two women teams – must sign up by 8:00 p.m. –
Friday, the 19th. Beach and/or Boat tournament – two largest fish of each specie count for total points – $50.00 per
team. This is a Member/Member or Member/Guest event.

Sept. 27th– Nantucket Anglers Club/ Osterville Anglers Club Shootout – stay tuned for details.

very detail oriented. It is all done with a fish theme. It is hanging at the Club and it is gorgeous. Why not take a

AUGUST EVENTS

The 13th Annual Nantucket Anglers’ Club Shark Tournament will be held on August 2nd and 3rd.

The Bob Fletcher Bluefish/ Bass Tournament has been changed to a weeklong event in hopes of boosting participation. You may fish any time during the week of August 16 through the 24th.
